Ribbon Cutting at New Heart Center

The Garden City Chamber of Commerce officially welcomed the Heart Center at St.

Catherine Hospital on August 12, 2009 with a formal ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Heart Center is located on the west side of the Hospital and has been in operation since July 6, 2009. As of August 6, 2009 Dr. John Ferrell, interventional cardiologist at the Heart Center, had completed 12 heart catheterizations and the number continues to go up. Dr. Ferrell has now done approximately 25 heart caths. It is easy to see why the administration, Board of Directors and staff at St. Catherine Hospital felt that having a Heart Center in Garden City was so important to the community and southwest Kansas.

St. Catherine Hospital partnered with Kansas Heart Hospital and Cardiovascular Consultants of Kansas in Wichita to assist them in fulfilling a vision that began 3 years ago and is now a reality. Dr. G.F. Duick of Cardiovascular Consultants of Kansas was a tremendous source of support and advice as was his entire staff and the staff of Kansas Heart Hospital. Special guests in attendance for the open house were I. Lynn Jeane, Chief Operating Officer of Kansas Heart Hospital and Dr. Michael Lloyd from Cardiovascular Consultants of Kansas. Dr. Lloyd has been coming to St. Catherine Hospital since 2004 doing outreach clinics and he will continue to do so.
