Whitson Completes Hospice Board Certification

Please join us in congratulating our Hospice Director, Kenne Whitson, DCCP, for achieving board certification in Hospice administration. Kenne successfully completed the requirements and examination for board certification by the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses on September 29. This distinction has been achieved by less than 100 hospice administrators nationwide. Kenne joins Pat Pospichal, CHPN as the second member of our hospice team to achieve board certification. The purpose of the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses (NBCHPN®) is to promote delivery of comprehensive palliative care through the certification of qualified hospice and palliative health professionals by:
1. Providing a national standard of requisite knowledge required for certification; thereby assisting the consumer, the employer, and members of the health profession in the elevation of the hospice and palliative team.
2. Establishing and measuring the level of knowledge required for the certification in hospice and palliative care.
3. Formally recognizing those individuals who meet the eligibility requirements of the NBCHPN and pass the Certification Examination for Hospice and Palliative health professionals.
4. Encouraging continued personal and professional growth in the practice of hospice and palliative care.
