St. Catherine Hospital Wound Care Center was recently recognized as a national Mentor Center by Curative Health Services. The mentor center distinction is awarded to Curative affiliated Wound Care Center programs who exhibit both operational and clinical excellence. The 2005 honors were given to centers thathad exceptional results in the areas of healing outcomes, days to healing, patient satisfaction and operational efficiencies.
The state-of-the-art outpatient center has offered advanced technologies and proven clinical protocols in the treatment of chronic, non-healing wounds to Garden City and surrounding areas since 1998.
“We are excited to celebrate our success of providing outstanding healing outcomes and patient satisfaction at the Wound Care Center®,” says Dr. Zeferino Arroyo, Medical Director. “Not only does the Wound Care Center complement the quality care already available at the St. Catherine Hospital, but it is filling an important need in local and surrounding communities. We look forward to continued success.”
Nationally, approximately 6 million people suffer from chronic, non-healing wounds, a serious disorder that can lead to amputation of limbs and dramatically impaired quality of life. Patients with poor circulation, diabetes or long term immobilization may suffer from chronic open sores. These populations are sharply rising as the nation ages and chronic diseases increase.
St. Catherine Hospital utilizes innovative techniques that focus on not just treating the wound's symptoms, but healing it by taking a disease management approach that eliminates the cause. This has yielded someof the best outcomes nationwide; healing 94% of the wounds in 28 days and achieving 95% patient satisfaction.
St. Catherine Hospital Wound Care Center is conveniently located at 310 East Walnut, Suite 201, Garden City, KS. Patients can self-refer or be referred by their physician. For information or to make an appointment, call 620.272.2700.
