I have been asked to say a few words about what the clinical nurse excellence award means to me. I can only say I am very proud to have my name added to the cape, especially when I took it home and started reading previous winners names. Nurses I have worked with over the years that have inspired me on my journey thru this chosen career.

I have worked here 22 years and continue to be amazed at the many changes in health care. I feel one of our greatest tasks ahead will be to inspire our younger generation to take pride in their chosen careers and give of themselves to the needs of others. We could all use that boost of support from our fellow associates to help us make it thru the rough spots. I feel my gratitude came from my fellow colleagues when I received this very special award.

It is very gratifying to be acknowledged by those you work with side by side who you depend on to help you make it thru the day so we can go home feeling like we did our job today. I know I'm not the kind of person who can remember to say what I feel everyday but I appreciate my fellow nurses and I feel this award was their way of saying we appreciate you too. I would love to think that thru my career I was able to inspire someone else. By our daily example of showing up for work, giving the best I can give, I hope I convey that this is an important job we do here at St. Catherine Hospital. Providing good patient care does mean we care and it is something to aspire to. I will always have a great satisfaction and pride knowing my name was added to the list of nurses who received this prestigious award.
